project rambling
the meet ups have been going so well and it's be super fun. were at 3 zine fairs!! im hoping to start having some of the pals i've made during the meetups help run things too, i'm really deeply craving collaborating with people right now and i havent had the chance to collab on events in kw yet. next meetup is tomorrow and im excited to see people and talk about zines!!! i'm also really excited to be collaborating a bit with Tricia on this puddle project that will be so fun/has already been really fun!! we applied for a window display thing and then i applied for a local grant to do some documentation/further puddle explorations so fingers crossed we get those. and i think im going to start a youtube channel to talk about zines? weird thing to do in 2024 but whatever.
zinetopia lives!
its a zine fair and a monthly meetup
the first zinetopia was in Dec as a zine fair and it went SO WELL and was SO FUN i was kind of shocked that it worked. So i'm doing another one in april which is extremely exciting!
on top of that it has also become a monthly meetup! its been going really well, we've done 2 sessions. the first one was quiet but very fun and chill, plus i got to keep all the snacks i got for it. and lots of folks came the second time and said they had a lot of fun so i'm feeling very excited about the whole dang thing.
posters and paper
side project lessons
i've learned i do not like making posters really. they stress me out. ive decided ill be hiring someone to do a cool poster for zinetopia bc im simply not comfortable with it!! plus i think i could find some neat letterpress/poster/screenprinter artist around here that could do it.
i did however successfully imbed wasps and a small wasps nest that used to live inside our screendoor into paper. im pretty excited about it, im really happy with how it looks. once its all dry im going to try some anthotyping on in, i think using spinach. really hoping i can have it come together the way im picturing.
zinetopia
a zine fair
im working to put together a zine fair bc the city i live in now doesn't have one. i think im calling it zinetopia, ive been working on some fun pulpy/60s scifi graphics. im excited about it and also nervous! ive never organized a zine fair before and i really hope it goes well.
it's set to happen in oct so im thinking it could be fun to encourage people to wear costumes to win a zine prize pack or something. we'll see. there's still a lot of time.
